Nikos Marantzidis was born in Thessaloniki (Greece) in 1966. He Studied Political Sociology in the Universities Paris 7(Jussieu) and Paris 10 (Nanterre). He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Paris 10 (1994). His Ph.D. thesis is focused on the electoral presence of the Greek communist party in rural areas. He is professor of political science in the department of Balkan, Slavic and Oriental Studies at the University of Macedonia. He is also visiting professor in Charles University at Prague. He has published books and articles on the Greek and European communist parties, on electoral behavior and the Greek civil war.
